Aprilia unveils new RS 457
It’s an exciting time to be a 400cc lover.
We rode the KTM RC390 recently, and while enjoyed our time with it, it’s the Kawasaki ZX4RR that we’re really looking forward to. But then in comes Aprilia with their new RS 457.
Now, our mechanic Bertie is a huge Aprilia fan and he’s also a 400cc advocate so he was more excited than we’ve ever seen him once the press release landed in our inboxes.
Technically speaking, the press release specifically says that Aprilia is targeting younger riders, which is understandable but even so, you won't be able to keep us away from it. Obviously, it’s designed to be A2 friendly, but the bike’s biggest claim is that it has the highest possible power-to-weight ratio for a bike you can ride with an A2 licence.
We don't know a whole lot about it yet, other than it's going to have a liquid-cooled parallel twin-cylinder engine, which puts out 35kW of power and a lightweight aluminium alloy frame (to give you that maxed out power-to-weight ratio).
You can expect the bike to launch late 2023 or early 2024 - and for Bertie to be camped out at the dealership a few days before.
